Covid-19 Precautions at the Conference

We hope everyone remains healthy at the Kansas Civil Engineering Conference.  The planning committee has taken the following actions to make a safe environment:

  • Full refunds will be given to those who are sick.  Please do not come to the conference if you are ill.

  • Virtual attendance is available for those who wish to learn from our presenters from another location.

  • Social distancing guidance will be followed in the meeting rooms. At least 6 feet will be provided between seated attendees.  Attendance will be capped to ensure adequate space is available.

  • Meals will be plated and buffets will not be utilized.

  • Cleaning and hygiene products will be available to attendees.  Masks will be on hand for participants and will be used as per required by federal, state or local authorities.  The Wichita mask ordinance and Sedgwick County Health Officers order requires masks where 6 feet separation can not be maintained, so masks will NOT be required during our seated sessions as adequate spacing will be provided as mentioned above.  If you would like to continue to wear masks during presentations, feel free to do so.  Masks will still be required per ordinance in gathering areas.

  • We have verified with the County Health Department Director that the Sedgwick County order limits gatherings to 45 people only if social distancing can not be maintained.  We have arranged for our event to accommodate the necessary social distancing so in-person attendance may exceed 45 people.

  • Golf carts will be provided to each individual golfer at the golf tournament to encourage social distancing.

With Covid-19 requirements, recommendations and news frequently changing, the planning committee has also arranged for an additional conference venue that we can utilize if the situation warrants.  This would allow for the conference to be split into two physically separate locations if the situation dictates smaller gathering sizes.  The committee has coordinated with the Sedgwick County Health Department as recommended by the CDC.  The planning committee will continue to monitor the situation locally and make adjustments as necessary.
